Be sure to tune in tonight as Mike Roberts will join Rick live in studio. Mike is always a great co-host and will take over nicely for me as I bust my ass and get stuff done. I miss being on the air but I have some things I have to take care but don’t worry I will be back soon! I will try and call in if my schedule allows but I most certainly will be on the live chat tonight so be sure to log in to the chat room at www.grindhouse-radio.com . It’s open forum so we can talk about whatever you like.
I was asked to cut my pre-orders in half from 500 to 250 by my possible distributor. I agreed so if you want to take advantage of the 2 for 1 offer, the signed movie poster, and free shipping order as soon as you can. I’m pretty close to the 250 already. So if you want that poster and the 2 for 1…jeez I sound like I’m selling mighty puddy or something. Anyhow, that’s the deal.
My edit is coming along nicely. I have to get together with Ryan and see what he’s accomplished with the footage and integrate it into my footage. I have been working feverishly to get the edit done and into the hands of the distributor. There is a lot of exciting things surrounding Grindhouse Pictures and Sorrow Hill.
The web traffic this month has already eclipsed our previous record for visits to the site. Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to continuing this momentum that all of you have helped me build.
A major distributor will be picking up Sorrow Hill. I can’t announce who that distributor is until contracts are signed and the deal is finalized but it is as good as done…it’s an opportunity I’d be foolish not to take. Anyhow this is what it means…
They are allowing me to honor all pre-orders up to 500. That means if you want the signed movie poster pre-order now. After that I can’t accept anymore pre-orders. I will also include the release cut for free with your pre-order
Release date will probably be pushed back. After my edit is complete, which it almost is, I will send them my edit and all of my footage. From there they will add, subtract, correct, basically put together their own edit. From there we will agree on the final product. So basically the first 500 I sell will be a directors cut. Those who do pre-order and don’t refund I will gladly send them both edits for the one price.
Any of you who have already pre-ordered the movie but aren’t happy that the release date will probably be pushed back, contact me and I will refund your money immediately.
This does not interfere with any of my foreign distribution deals I have in the works.
This is a great opportunity for Grindhouse Pictures LLC and all those involved.
Be sure to tune in for tonight’s show is truly gonna rock. ACDC tribute band 13 Stone will be performing live in studio. Also find out why Big Rick was thrown out of ESPN radio today and told never to return. That alone is must listen to radio. Also the usual band of characters and let’s not forget Matt’s Weird News. So tune in at 11 at www.grindhouse-radio.com for what promises to be a crazy night of radio.
That’s right, we were contacted by an Australian distribution company, DRD Films, and they are interested in distributing Sorrow Hill. Every day brings new and exciting news! Just think if I had this thing edited already…jeez what’s my problem. Anyhow, I am working my ass off on this edit and will be for the next 7 days. I will have some interesting things up on the blog and on the site in the next couple of days so be sure to check back.
Tonight is the end of my seven day shift, which means I am off the next 7 days. In theory that is. However I will be far from off of work, I will be locking myself in my office for the next 7 days and nights only to emerge for bathroom breaks and Pepsi. I will be editing non-stop to make certain I make my target street date of March 13th. I’ve already informed my daughter of my schedule and she supports me. I will take time each day to spend with her but not as much. She understands I have to sacrifice some time with her in order to make my deadline. Everything I try and accomplish is for her and always will be. She is my biggest fan and I will never let her down.
I’m excited. The website saw a huge spike in traffic and it lead to some pre-sales not as many as I would have liked but I understand. It’s hard to plunk down 15 dollars nowadays for a product that isn’t technically available yet. I thank those of you who have pre-ordered the film and for those of you who are on the fence about whether or not they should all I can say is trust me. I will deliver to you a movie that will impress you and make you eager to see what we do next. Pre-order now and save. The price on March 13th goes up and you won’t receive a signed movie poster and shipping will no longer be free. Support independent film making at it’s finest. Click HERE and pre-order Sorrow Hill.
I am also on board with a distributor. I had a great conversation today with a John Lula from independenthorrorfilms.com. And they are launching their site this week and when Sorrow Hill is released they are going to help with the distribution. I told him that I was currently pre-selling the film and they were fine with that. This joint venture will certainly help make our movie available to those who haven’t been following the films progress from the beginning.
I also have been contacted by an international distributor. Uwe Boll’s distribution company is anxious to get their hands on a screener of Sorrow Hill so they can put together an international distribution strategy. Who would’ve thunk it? Sorrow Hill goes international. How do you say Motherf—-r in Chinese?
So a lot is going on with Sorrow Hill right now. The next seven days will be vital so there may not be a lot of blogs. I will do my best to do at least a quick update every day. Once again thank you for all of your support and for believing in me and what I am trying to accomplish.
That’s right, I’ve made my decision. I am throwing caution to the wind and self-distributing. I know it’s crazy but you know what at the end of the day no one is going to promote my movie better than me. So, here is where I ask you, all my loyal readers and fans to help me fight the distribution machine and show them with enough support and word of mouth we can make a successful movie outside the establishment.
All those who pre-order before March 13th, which is the release date, will receive a Sorrow Hill Movie Poster signed by the entire cast, as well as free shipping. So click HERE pre-order the DVD and support independent films.
I had the opportunity to watch a soon to be released DVD titled “Amusement.” I was really looking forward to this movie. The premise seemed different from the usual horror fare a demented individual devises a plot to kidnap, torture, and kill three of his former classmates who were mean to him. Each girl is abducted separately through complex scenarios. Each abduction plays like it’s own individual short, which really works for me. I liked how it was three very different vignettes that tied together smoothly.
The movie opens with a bang, a nice little misdirection that leads to the abduction of the first victim Shelby played by Laura Breckenridge. Before I continue I will say this, the better than average acting helped salvage a pretty thin plot. We don’t see what happens to Shelby yet…it’s off to the abduction of the second victim, Tabitha, played wonderfully by Katheryn Winnick. I truly hope to see more of this actress. She did a fantastic job and was very convincing. It’s great when an actress can sell the fear and Ms. Winnick does so magnificentally. There is a nice creepy clown sequence in this abduction. The last girl to be abducted is Lisa, played by Jessica Lucas, her abduction was way more elaborate and a tad over the top but it did include the best kill of the movie and was really creepy.
Now that the killer has all three girls, the fun begins. He plays this incredibly terrifying mind game with Tabitha that will have you cringing. I don’t want to give any thing else away. I want you to enjoy this movie like I did.
My only criticism of this movie would have to be with the killer himself. And it’s just a personal preference of mine, but I truly can’t stand it when a killer does a maniacal, over the top laugh the entire time. It’s not scary it’s annoying…but I was able to look past this because this was one of the better straight to DVD horror movies I have seen. Amusement will be available this Tuesday January 20th, it’s definitely worth the rental…hell I think it’s worth buying and adding it to your horror DVD collection. Peep the trailer below.
I feel like the jilted lover, the one who believes their ex when they say please come back to me, I won’t hurt you again…then a day later they are in bed with your best friend. That’s how this most recent NFC title game loss feels. I try not to let it affect me…but it does. Once again they were so close and the Eagles managed to come up short. I was confident all week until today. Driving home from work I had this sense of dread, something just didn’t feel right. I excused those feelings to lack of sleep and the teams history of failure in title games. But alas, once again my gut was right. Damn this feels horrible. What’s next for this team? A lot of guys on the last year of their contract. Tre Thomas, Jon Runyan, Brian Dawkins, just to name a few. I doubt they will re-sign them all, perhaps Dawkins but the other two probably not. Will McNabb be back? Should Reid be back after being thoroughly outcoached again in a big game? I’m not thinking rationally enough to answer those two questions. Right now i just want to vent. But I won’t too much…the only thing I will say is McNabb was a classless jerk at his press conference when he laid the loss at the feet of the defense. That is part of the reason why he hasn’t ever been fully embraced by the city, because for once he could have been contrite and taken some of the blame for the loss…instead he absolved himself. For all his talent, for the fact that I don’t believe Kolb is the answer I still think it’s time for him to go. I think it’s time this team had an extreme makeover.
Is it 3PM yet? I cannot wait for kickoff. Who would have thought this? The two most unlikely teams playing for the NFC championship. I am nervous. I am always nervous before any Eagles game but with so much on the line that nervousness only intensifies. I believe the Eagles are the better time but I have been down this road too many times with this team…they were better than the Bucs and the Panthers in previous NFC title games and both times came up short…at home. I know each year is different but that doesn’t heal the wounds of prior heart break. All my football sense tells me that the Eagles should win, the team with the stronger defense usually does but no how much I try to convince myself that nagging doubt creeps in. It’s the many scars of being a Philadelphia sports fan, the Phillies World Series Victory went a long way in healing some of those wounds but the Eagles wounds are deep…a win today would go a long way in healing some of those wounds.
