On March 10th my favorite movie of 2008 will be released on DVD. Let The Right One In. I know, it’s blasphemy not to give the nod to The Dark Knight, but if it’s any consolation it was my second favorite film. Any how on to Let The Right One In. I was completely amazed and awestruck by this film. Sometimes you witness cinematic perfection and it affects you long after you see it. This movie has done that to me. This movie has it all, compelling story, inspiring direction, breath taking cinematography, and superb acting by it’s two young leads.
The story is one that most can relate to, Oskar, is an outcast. Picked on by his classmates, too smart for his own good. He never defends himself…until he meets his new neighbor, Eli, a pale, serious girl who is just as alone as Oskar. The two become fast friends and become reliant on one another. The central theme of this movie is one of friendship, and the beauty of true friendship. Before I forget did I mention this is one of the most terrifying vampire movies ever made. This movie is the quintescential blend of beauty and horror. This movie is spell binding, heart felt, and heart stopping. I don’t recommend a lot of movies, but this movie is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen. Not just in the horror genre, I’m talking movies in general. I can only aspire to make something this perfect. I will never understand how this movie didn’t win, let alone get nominated for best foreign film. A travesty. So do yourself a favor on March 10th. Rush out and buy this DVD, rent it, or NetFlix it. Whatever you do…see this film.
Now I normally do not look forward to remakes, in fact I usually loathe them but I think they may have gotten this one right. Last House on the Left was a ground breaking horror/thriller movie and I adore the original. The remake launches soon and I for one cannot wait…check it out below.
This video really sums up what a great year 2008 was for cinema. The only film missing is my favorite movie of the year, Let The Right One In. I cannot wait for March…one Sorrow Hill will be released, and two so will Let The Right One In. If you have a chance to see this incredible film you have to check it out. In all honesty…it very well may be my favorite movie of all time…it affected me that much. It was beautiful and horrifying in the same instance. I love talking about this film with those who have seen it as well. It is utterly amazing…anyhow I got of the subject. Enjoy this wonderful video montage of this past year in cinema. Also, the song playing throughout the montage has been playing on a continuous loop on my computer since I heard it. I found a new song to obsess on while I write. Anyhow enjoy today’s VOTD.
Now I will admit, I love over the top cheezy action movies. Can’t help it. I love the Transporter series, I love all the Die Hard movies, Face-off but the one that really had me geeking out recently was Crank, when I heard they were filming a sequel I did wonder how they were going to do it. If you saw Crank you know what happens at the end, or so we thought. Anyhow, click the link below for the Crank 2 trailer. I didn’t embed it on the site for the simple reason that this is sort of a family friendly site and this redband trailer is certainly not safe for work. Click below, and I for one cannot wait for this sequel to hit, it’s gonna be a blast!
I know I haven’t kept up with this like I had planned but nevertheless here is a wonderful short film that I absolutely love. the title is I Love Sarah Jane, it recently appeared on the International Watch List for motion pictures which is the equivalent of the blacklist. The blacklist is a list of the hottest un-produced screenplays.
I Love Sarah Jane is not your typical zombie film. Here is the shorts synopsis:
Jimbo is in love with Sarah Jane and nothing--not bullying friends, burning suburbs or bloodthirsty zombies will keep him from finding a way into her world.
Warning due to violence and language this video is not safe for work. Enjoy!
First off I read the first Twilight book…not for me. I found the writing to be uninspired, tired, and un-original. Needless to say the movie was just as bad. Twilight has found an incredibly loyal following almost rivaling that of Harry Potter. It’s a shame this is what kid’s are into when there are so many other superior movies they could be watching. Anyhow, I searched far and wide and thanks to youtube and Spooky Dan I found a version of Twilight that I love. Check it out below.
When I initially heard that a remake was in the works for one of my favorite horror movies, I was not enthused, as the cast was announced I was still not enthused, when I saw the first teaser trailer I wasn’t hating it. Now that the official trailer has been released, I am not excited at all. I will still go see it when it’s released but I don’t hold out much hope. They give away a lot in the trailer, it’s very similar to the original trailer for Friday the 13th part 2. I will post them both. The first one is for the remake:
And the original trailer from Friday the 13th part 2
I love Zombie’s. Any one who reads my blog or knows me personally knows that I it is my favorite sub-genre when it comes to horror movies. Check out the video of the day below for a neat little zombie cartoon I found amusing.
This is what you discuss when working midnight to 8 am every night. You get into deep philosophical discussions about who would win a fight…a zombie or a shark. Joe, the guy who has been training me to take over the graveyard shift feels it’s no contest, the shark would win easily. His reasons are the shark is in his own element the water, he is much stronger, has the speed advantage and a zombie doesn’t have super human strength, he is simply just the un-dead. All valid points…and even though I ‘d like to argue against Joe’s logic he is right…if the zombie got in a lucky bite maybe but I just can’t see how a zombie wins the fight. Let’s go to the video to see the outcome.
